Background and Experience

David Burse is the managing partner of Vista IP Law Group. His practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, including U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution; infringement and validity analyses and opinions; product clearance and patent landscape searches; investment and transactional due diligence; IP transfer, licensing, and other agreements (e.g., employment, consulting, non-disclosure, joint development); as well as general counseling and IP litigation.

Mr. Burse represents clients with diverse products and technologies, with an emphasis on medical devices and treatment systems, including RF tumor ablation probes, electrophysiology catheters, vaso-occlusive devices and delivery/retention systems, high intensity focused ultrasound systems, robotically controlled catheter navigation systems, vascular access closure devices, mechanized (robotic) hair transplantation systems, cytological imaging and diagnostic systems, including cell block and slide preparation systems and apparatus, acoustic telemetry systems for implantable devices, and vertebral and other bone implants. Mr. Burse also has significant experience in the fields of semiconductors (e.g., DRAMS, power transistors, packages), analog circuits (e.g., power supplies, battery protection circuits), communications (e.g., telecom, optical, and wireless networks, components and devices, broadcast and narrowcast transmission, data communication protocols), imaging and localization technology, touch screens, and DVD Players.

Mr. Burse was formerly a partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP (2002-2006), and before that at Lyon & Lyon LLP, where he had practiced since graduating from law school in 1992. Prior to law school, Mr. Burse spent several years as an engineer and manager in the telecommunications industry.
