BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Gary Lueck is a registered patent attorney who focuses on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent infringement and validity studies and opinions, due diligence and general counseling. Mr. Lueck's work involves a variety of technologies including computer related arts, optics, lasers, semiconductor fabrication, electronic design automation, MEMS, databases, surgical and medical devices involving robotic controls, cardiac surgery, oncology and ablation, cytological imaging and diagnostic systems, space-related systems, food processing and other mechanical, electrical, and software technologies. Mr. Lueck has also been involved in various litigation matters including Thomson SA v. BenQ (represented BenQ in ITC action involving LCD TVs and DVD players); CEA v. ViewSonic et al. and LG Philips v. ViewSonic et al. (represented ViewSonic in patent infringement cases in U.S. District Court, District of Delaware, involving LCDs / optics); Beekley Corp. v. The St. John Companies, Inc. (represented The St. John Companies, Inc. in a patent infringement case in U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, involving skin markers for mammography) and Harris Corp. v. Independent Technologies, Inc. (represented Independent Technologies, Inc. in a patent infringement case in U.S. District Court, Central District of California, involving telephone test equipment; jury decision in favor of Independent Technologies, Inc.).

Prior to joining Vista, Mr. Lueck was counsel at Bingham McCutchen LLP (2003-2006) in Los Angeles and an associate at Christie, Parker & Hale, LLP (1999-2003) in Pasadena (following the merger with Pretty & Schroeder, PC in Los Angeles in 2001). Before graduation from law school, he worked at Containerless Research, Inc. in Evanston, Illinois, where he was responsible for business, technical and patent research for investment proposals and technology commercialization, and at Zebra Technologies, Corp. in Vernon Hills, Illinois, where he designed and tested electronic components for bar-code printers.
